When it comes to the safari experience, Tanzania's stunning range of wildlifeand its many beautiful national parks and conservation areas make it the best place in Africa to go on safari. Whether you choose to do your safari from the back of a truck or want to try something more adventurous such as guided hiking or even canoeing, there is a wealth of options to satisfy.
National Parks of Tanzania, such as Manyara Lake, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, and the world famous Serengeti offer visitors the opportunity to see the fabled big five as well as countless other animals, birds, and insects the likes of which you cannot see elsewhere in the world.
Tanzania is also the traditional home of the Maasai people, and no visit to Tanzania would be complete without interacting with these people and paying a visit to the Cradle of Mankind at Olduvai Gorge. For the more adventurous, the opportunity to climb iconic Mount Kilimanjaro or the smaller but no less beautiful Mount Mara is also available. Those seeking sun, sand, and leisure can visit beautiful Zanzibar, a magnificent island retreat whose rich cultural history is every bit as fascinating as its jungles and beaches.
Our six-day river crossing safari takes you into the northern Serengeti and offers the best chance of seeing death-defying leaps and heart-wrenching near misses as you spend multiple nights and days in the world-famous Serengeti National Park.
During this period, the herd continues its movement north towards the Maasai Mara National Park in Kenya. There is no tight schedule that these animals follow, and so tracking the herd’s movements becomes a day-to-day prospect as the meander slowly but inexorably towards the next big obstacle in their path: the Mara River.
The Mara River poses another deadly barrier for the herd, who must again brave swollen waters and the opportunistic predators if they are to find relatively safety on the far side. Photographers and documentarians from around the world gather to witness the death-defying crossing, but the surrounding landscapes are every bit as memorable as the life and death struggle taking place at the Kogatende crossing.

Rongai Route - Climb Kilimanjaro
The Rongai Route is recommended for climbers who want to avoid the huge numbers of climbers on other routes. This route can be started from the Tanzanian or the Kenyan side of the mountain and can be achieved in 7 days.
The Rongai Route is only used to climb up the mountain and at the final stage it joins up with the Marangu Route, which is also the ascending route. This route has lots of caves, which are partly also used as overnight accommodations.
My friend found and got in contact with the agency Shadows of Africa which organized great itinerary, superb accomodations, awesome guide and more (meals and water on the safaris, transportation from and to the airport, etc.).
We spent a week in Tanzania’s national parks in the north east region (Arusha, Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti, Manyara). The Shadows of Africa prepared an excellent itinerary with great acommodations. But the best part of our trip ...

My friend found and got in contact with the agency Shadows of Africa which organized great itinerary, superb accomodations, awesome guide and more (meals and water on the safaris, transportation from and to the airport, etc.). Our safari guide was Lomani, who took a great care of us, tried really hard that we see and experience as much as we can in a time that we had in Tanzania. He was very professional, reliable, knowledgeable and always in a good mood. With him as our guide our safari days were carefree so we could really hakuna matata. :)
I want to express my sincere appreciation to Shadows of Africa! Especially to Lies who worked with my brother to plan the trip and to Loma for being the best guide you could ever ask for! Our safari was very customized to meet the desires of my 80 year old father's life long dream of going on a safari and I honestly can not stop thinking about this experience we had. I've never been so impacted by a trip before. Everything was absolutely incredible, the parks, the food, the lodging, the people, the animals, and our guide Loma made the trip an incredibly memorable one for my dad, brother and I.
Words can not even express how wonderful the trip was. If you've been thinking of going on safari, DO IT NOW and book through Shadows of Africa and ask for Loma. You will not be disappointed and will have a life changing experience. Loma has an uncanny ability to see the animals from afar and to get the vehicle in the exact position for you to see the wildlife. He also did an awesome job at listening to what we wanted to see and do and make it happen.
I also want to give a shout out to Assad who took care of getting us to the airport back in Arusha and went above and beyond to ensure we were able to get our covid tests prior to departure. I really can't fully express how awesome everything was in words, you have to go and experience it for yourself! Thank you Lies, Loma and Assad. You all rock!!
We spent a week in Tanzania’s national parks in the north east region (Arusha, Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti, Manyara). The Shadows of Africa prepared an excellent itinerary with great acommodations.
But the best part of our trip was our guide Loma. He was always in a good mood and joking. He was also extremelly professonal and knowledgable, be it about the culture, about animals, plants or everyday life in Tanzania. His animal spotting skills are amazing, he sees lions lying in the grass from 200 meters away, when others hardly see them with binoculars. This way we were able to see feeding lions, hunting cheetahs and a lion and a leopard competing for food. And all of this in just a couple of days of Safaris! It seems like he knows everyone in Tanzania and was more then happy to arrange a bunch of activities outside of our itinerary, from tasting banana wine and barbecue with the locals, to shopping and drinking local coffee.
If you book a Safari through Shadows of Africa, ask for Loma. You won’t be sorry.
